Lisa Gleave to join the Chester Playhouse as General Manager
The Board of Directors of Chester Playhouse is pleased to announce that Lisa Gleave will become its new General Manager effective April 3, 2017. She takes over from Erick Bickerdike who has managed the Playhouse for the last 13 years.
Lisa is an experienced and talented arts administrator and has brought creativity, vision, and dedication to her role as General Manager for Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia. She is committed to programming that bridges generations and leads by embracing the importance of the performing arts as a foundation to building strong communities.
Her career has exposed her to all aspects of theatrical production, presentation and touring, and she brings to her new position a strong desire to collaborate with peer arts organizations, artists, and the communities served by the Chester Playhouse. She is an active leader in the development of the cultural sector development in the region and beyond.
“We look forward to welcoming Lisa to the Playhouse and to working with her to ensure that the Chester Playhouse continues to be an important and valued arts destination for the Village of Chester and the broader region”, said Tom Myers, Board Chair.
Lisa Gleave says “I believe strongly that shared experience has the power to inspire deep human connection. It is my great honour to be given the opportunity to bring my passion for presenting accessible, world-class performing arts to the community of Chester and beyond.”
The Chester Playhouse, located in the centre of the Village, is an iconic performing arts venue presenting diverse cultural events including professional theatre, live music, film, lectures, youth programs and community theatre. From its origins as a summer theatre venue, the Chester Playhouse has evolved into a year round destination for the local community and beyond, with over 80 events programmed each year. The 176-seat theatre is owned and operated by the Chester Theatre Council Society and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Please refer to www.chesterplayhouse.ca for a more complete profile.
