Two-time 2022 ECMA winner fiddler and singer Morgan Toney brings together the fiery fiddling of Cape Breton Island with the traditional songs of the Mi’kmaq people, with brilliance and heart.

Hailing from Wagmatcook First Nation, 22 year old Morgan Toney combines his Mi’kmaq roots and his love of Cape Breton Celtic tunes in the creation of fresh new music, which he calls “Mi’kmaltic”. First Flight, Toney’s award-nominated debut album, celebrates language and heritage in Toney’s transformation of traditional songs like the Ko’jua and the Mi’kmaq Honour Song alongside highly original songcraft.

Joining Morgan, Keith Mullins has been a stalwart of the East Coast Music Scene for over 25 years, sharing stages with musical greats such as Matt Anderson, Lennie Gallant, Jimmy Rankin, Natalie MacMaster, Garrett Mason and many more. He received 4 ECMAs, and 10 Music Nova Scotia Awards (two times as Musician of the Year), and is well-known and loved for his work with emerging musicians.

Those of you who joined us for the Alan Syliboy & The Thundermakers concert in April caught a glimpse of the energy that this multi-talented artist brings to his performances. Join us Friday July 15th at the Gold River Community Centre, and discover the talent that is Morgan Toney!
