A Song for Hephaestus

August 24
– August 25, 2024
Embrace the unexpected twists and turns of Forged in Fable’s new folk-opera A Song for Hephaestus.

Savour a mythic journey in this three-act folk-opera as it unfolds the captivating tale of Hephaestus, as he rises from underwater volcanic caves to the summit of Mount Olympus. Cast out at birth by his mother Hera, Hephaestus turns his pain into a quest for revenge, leading to a dramatic, emotional exploration of romance, deception, betrayal, and eventual self-discovery.

Fusing shadow puppetry, intricate vocal harmonies, sincere drama, and comedic bravado, Forged in Fable uses ancient Greek mythology to delve into contemporary issues of being “othered” in society and exploring questions around how to turn the pain and trauma of being cast aside toward creation instead of destruction.

Created and performed by a brand new theatre collective based on the South Shore, A Song for Hephaestus is a bold, original performance of music and theatre that will make you laugh, think, and cheer.
