The Road to 2024 Congrès Mondial Acadien!

August 8
Join in the fun as we celebrate the 2024 Congrès Mondial Acadien (CMA), with Allons-y!

Featuring three Nova Scotian musical acts with Acadian heritage: Sylvie Bouliane, Mike à Vik, and Mary Beth Carty, each performing with an ensemble, this special concert is the perfect lead up to the Congrès Mondial Acadien, the international gathering celebrating Acadian Culture taking place every 5 years, held this year on Nova Scotia’s South Shore.

Sylvie Boulianne, originally from Baie Sainte-Marie (Clare, Nova Scotia), grew up with the sound of the waves, and the traditional & folk music of her friends and family as background. Get whisked away to a magical universe where her lyrics take you on a journey of inner strength, self-discovery, and all the ups and downs of love.

Mike à Vik is a legend in the music scene of Clare, NS. Mike’s music is heavily influenced by his Acadian and Métis heritage, but he also brings elements of stoner rock and blues. In 2022, Mike was nominated for the “Prix de L’Acadie ” an award offered by Music Nova Scotia for outstanding Acadian artists.

Accordionist, guitarist, and player of pocket-sized instruments, Mary Beth Carty of Antigonish possesses a magical voice that earned her the 2024 Canadian Folk Music Award for Traditional Singer of the Year. Mary Beth has the ability to rouse a room to sing-along to choruses of entertaining original songs, and a unique repertoire of traditional Gaelic and French songs.

Whether you’re on your way to the Congrès Mondial, or keeping your celebration closer to home, or simply curious to sample three incredible artists performing in English and French, celebrate Acadian Heritage at Allons-y!
