The Halifax Camerata Singers

June 16
This Father’s Day, join us for an inspiring and beautiful concert featuring Atlantic Canada’s premier chamber choir, Halifax Camerata Singers!

This concert showcases the breadth of Camerata’s expressive capabilities, from Monteverdi and Brahms to Sherryl Sewepagaham and Stephen Sondheim.  Featuring Paul John Rudoi’s song cycle The Wind’s True Song as well as works for clarinet and choir by Canadian composers Tim Corlis and our Composer-in Residence Benjamin Sigerson, this concert weaves together themes of courage, invitation, and acceptance.  Join us for a concert that moves and uplifts!

Founded in 1986 by Artistic Director Jeff Joudrey, Halifax Camerata Singers has distinguished itself by performing exciting choral repertoire that covers all periods and styles, with special attention to Canadian music. The auditioned choir is known for its high performance standards, claiming national recognition and the Healy Willan Grand Prize in the 2010 National Competition for Canadian Amateur Choirs.  Now numbering 35 singers, the choir is directed by Joel Tranquilla.

Don’t miss an uplifting and stunning concert, sure to benefit from the Playhouse’s beautiful acoustics!
