Laugh Out Proud!

PRIDE Lunenburg County

Comedy
July 11

PRIDE Lunenburg County celebrates their annual comedy extravaganza in Chester, with a fantastic line-up of hilarious East Coast comedians for Laugh out PROUD!

Clare Belford makes her return to the Playhouse as headliner for Laugh Out Proud. Clare is a comedian and a nice person. Hailing from northern Alberta, she cut her teeth early on by forcibly telling deeply personal jokes about womanhood to drunk tradesmen. Nowadays she is a veritable fixture of Canadian comedy. She has performed at festivals like Just For Laughs, the New York Comedy Festival, the Halifax Comedy Festival, and she appears on CBC’s New Wave of Stand Up. She writes for This Hour Has 22 Minutes, and her debut album, The Entire Cabbage, plays regularly on Sirius XM, and was named one of the Best of 2021 by Bullseye on NPR.

Warming the stage for Clare are a trio of funny folk: Adrienne Gabrielle, Patrick Cadegan and Carol Davis.

Adrienne Gabrielle’s comedy is dark and sparkly; she is charming and irreverent with a touch of naughty thrown in for good measure. Adrienne has performed at the Portland Maine Comedy Festival and the Halifax PRIDE Festival. She has recorded for Just For Laughs and performs regularly at Yuk Yuks.

Patrick Cadegan is an award winning triple threat who identifies as a Comedian/Actor/Diva. Equally comedic and dramatic, Patrick is known for his sassy stand up comedy, character work, and for his acting. Nominated for two Screen Nova Scotia Awards, he won the inaugural Groundbreaking Performance Award. As a stand up comedian, Patrick recently made his festival debut at the Cape Breton Comedy Fest, and won a stand up comedy competition which included a spot at the festival gala.

With her dry and sometimes dark wit, Carol Davis has been entertaining audiences across Canada, the US and even Europe since the 1990’s. Hers is the only weekly trans-run comedy show in the Maritimes, which she’s had for the past 2 years in Dartmouth. She hosted last year’s Lunenburg Pride Comedy Night at FirkinStein Brewing and she’s delighted to return this year and perform once again in front of such great audiences!

The one and only Alva Sparkles is our host with the most. Alva is like a cone of moon mist ice-cream that became sentient and turned out to be a little pervy. This actor, author, and comedian has hosted Yuk Yuk’s, Sex Toy Bingo, Burlesque, and countless Queer Comedy Nights. Her cast of characters includes a stormtrooper, an old man, and a puppy dog. Her style is only outshined by her wit as she delivers hard hitting punchlines on vulnerable topics such as mental health, relationships, and coming out in Cowtown.

With a full lineup of hilarious comics, celebrate laughter and love at Laugh Out Proud!
