Set in a remote and seemingly sleepy town in rural Cape Breton, and based on a true story, Little Lorraine is a triumphant exploration of the human condition: the beauty, the tragedy, and the incredible acts of courage.
Synopsis:
In the wake of a deadly mining explosion, a desperate family man is lured into a lucrative but dangerous scheme — running drugs under the cover of a lobster boat. As the operation spirals into an international cocaine ring, the crew is hunted by law enforcement and trapped in a deadly web of greed and betrayal. What began as a lifeline quickly turns into a fight for survival in this tense, high-stakes thriller.
Director Andy Hines discovered this incredible tale through his dear friend Adam Baldwin’s song ‘Lighthouse In Little Lorraine’, for which he also directed the music video. The song vividly painted the story, sparking an intense desire to delve deeper into the half truths and tall tales of this little known story to translate it into something for the silver screen.
Little Lorraine currently sits with a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes with critics raving:
“Little Lorraine” delivers a haunting and atmospheric portrait of a community in crisis, grounded by strong performances and a clear-eyed refusal to romanticize the desperation that drives ordinary people to crime.” – Next Best Picture
Starring Stephen Amell (Arrow), Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy), J. Balvin, Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords), and Stephen McHattie (Watchmen, Murdoch Mysteries), Little Lorraine had its world premiere at TIFF in 2025.
