Online sales close 2 hours before the event.

If tickets are available, you can purchase them at the door.  The box office will open 30 minutes prior to show time.  We encourage you to come early to avoid the rush.  We can accept cash, debit, and credit (VISA, Mastercard, AMEX).

Currently, we are not issuing paper tickets. We will have your name and seat location at the door the night of the event. An usher will direct you to your seat.

All sales are final. We do not offer refunds or exchanges.

If you are unable to use your tickets you have a few options. You may:

  • Give your tickets away. If possible, please contact us with the name of the person attending.
  • Call the Box Office to have your ticket value credited to your account as a Gift Card. This gift card can be used for any Playhouse presentation.
  • Turn the value of your ticket into a donation to the Playhouse.  You will receive a charitable tax receipt for this donation.

For information or changes to your reserved ticket, please call the Box Office at (902) 275-3933.

If a show is canceled or postponed, ticket holders will receive an email and/or phone call. Notifications will also be shared via our social media pages including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. If in doubt, check these.

If The Chester Playhouse cancels a performance, a credit will be given for the value of your ticket(s). This credit will never expire and can be used for any future event presented by the Chester Playhouse.

If an event is postponed, your tickets will be automatically transferred to the new date, when scheduled. If you are unable to attend on this new date, you can receive a refund or a Gift Card for that value.

In both cases, your ticket can also be donated to the Chester Playhouse for a charitable tax receipt.

If a show is canceled or postponed, ticket holders will receive an email and/or phone call. Notifications will also be shared via our social media pages

Ticket prices vary by event.  We do our best to keep ticket prices affordable for all.

A $2 Building Reserve Fee will be added to each ticket for events taking place in the Chester Playhouse. The Building Reserve Fee will help support the continued upkeep and maintenance of theatre.

Discounts will be listed on our box office website, if available for a particular performance.

Youth tickets are available for all events for patrons 20 and under.

Babes in Arms and children under FOUR (4) years of age are not permitted in the theatre. The theatre reserves the right to ask for proof of age if a child appears to be under four years old and may refuse entry (even for family shows.) Please consider this rule when purchasing.

The Chester Playhouse is committed to making live performances accessible to all audiences. With this in mind, we have set aside a limited number of Community Tickets for each performance. If the ticket price is a barrier, please use promo code 10for10, to book $10 Community Tickets online, or call the Box Office at (902) 275 3933. There are no questions asked, and no criteria to meet – these tickets are there to be used.  If a cheaper ticket means the difference between attending, and not, please use this discount.

Doors usually open 30 minutes prior to the event.

Since 1938 friends, families, and visitors to our community have been gathering at the Chester Playhouse to experience movies, music, theatre, and community events.

After a fire damaged the Playhouse in June 2021, we quickly reimagined our model and the “Playhouse Without Walls”. Moving events outdoors, and partnering with local venues, the Chester Playhouse continues to bring live music, theatre, movies, and more to our community.

While we work to rebuild our beloved home at 22 Pleasant St, our Playhouse Without Walls continues through 2022, with incredible live performances taking place throughout the year, in venues throughout the Chester area.

The Chester Playhouse lower and upper lobby, and theatre are accessible.

The theatre is equipped with a Bluetooth Hearing Loop System to assist those with hearing impairment. Please bring your headsets with you; there will be a limited number to borrow at the Box Office.

Service Animals are permitted in the theatre.

We are eager to ensure that your visit is a comfortable one.  Please visit or call our Box Office at 902-275-3933 regarding any specific needs you have.

We are working to provide an accessible website. We have made progress with improved colour contrast, improved use of alt text, and other features. We aim to provide WCAG 2 AA accessibility.

At the Chester Legion, please park in the UPPER parking lot only.

At the Chester Basin Legion, you are welcome to park in the parking lot.

There is no charge for street parking.  Please keep safety in mind.

youth programs

Summer youth performance camps are announced in March, before Spring Break.

The majority of our summer youth performance camps are available to youth ranging from the ages of 6-13.

Registration is required for each individual participant.

A non-refundable $50 deposit is required upon registration.

The balance of the fee is required three weeks prior to the start date of the camp.

The Chester Playhouse believes strongly in creating the opportunity for youth to participate in the creative arts, therefore, no child gets turned away because of financial barriers.

Should you require financial assistance please contact the Chester Playhouse at (902) 275-3933 or via email at
